The question

Everything that exists has a specific nature, each entity exists as something in particular and has characteristics that are part of what it is, A is A…

The Question, Justice League Unlimited

It’s been said of Oscar Wilde that as he became older, his reputation for laconic wit bore such prominence, that he could only speak in epigrams. Imagine how excruciating that must’ve been for those forced to endure it for any length of time, sure five minutes of it would’ve been okay but suppose you were sat next to the man at a dinner engagement.

‘What do you think of the parsnips Oscar?’.

‘There’s only one thing worse than eating these parsnips…’.

See what I mean? So normal folk, I mean those without some imperative to preserve or extend a reputation for pithy observations, don’t talk like that do they. So why is it exactly that so much of what we’re supposed to believe from the media, is normally expressed solely in condensed form, with slogans, phrases intended to encapsulate broad concepts and vague analogies?
